And it is Saturday... basketball, groceries, and new skills...
...and here we are, back in seasonal temperatures. A light dusting of snow covers the expanses of mud from yesterday's odd 60 degrees and driving rain with high wind. I'm sure there's ice pockets, too, so I'll have to be especially wary when we venture out later for basketball practice.
It's Saturday, and I have the usual busy agenda. Not too unwieldy, but the groceries must be bought, and the house could use some real TLC. Yesterday, I achieved most of the wrapping: there are a few last-minute things I need to wrap, but mostly, it's done. I don't mind, but it is a bit tedious. Still, they look pretty, all those small parcels in festive paper. Except the basketball. I was not going to test my creativity on that one.
It's a "noiseless" basketball, intended for indoor play. Yes, it's regulation-sized, which is a little too big for Holly, but it'll be fun for her to work with. As she just now told me (about going to practice): "we have new skills to learn."
She's a hoot. And she's not wrong. After reading the paper this morning and scanning the headlines, it is pretty obvious to me that we are "not in Kansas anymore." We will need a lot of new skills (or we can brush off some old ones) to navigate the way things are shaping up to be. I am tempted to draw the curtains and hide under the bed, but that's not really my nature. But for today, engaging in the minor tedium of my life seems a blessing.
After basketball, I may do some baking, I will do some laundry, and the house needs a good dusting/sweeping (omg this dog with the extra long hair). But mostly, I'm going to revel in the fact that there's only a couple more days, then a break of sorts. At least I'll have some flexible time to get things in order, write that book review I've been really tardy getting done, and yeah-- maybe rest. I sure hope so.
Have a good day, friends. Hold your loved ones super close.
