Toilet paper=crisis? And some August musings...
Why does every crisis require stocking up on toilet paper? At least, that idea has occurred to me. Pandemic? stockpile tp- hard to get, no clue when things will be back to normal supply. Tariffs? prices are predicted to go up 25% on paper goods--tp-- so stock up again. And I did get an extra (huge) package yesterday at BJs. I feel like Scarlett O'Hara: "I will never go [drip dry] again!"
Not for nuthin', but getting a huge package for under 17.00 was a primary reason for placing a pick up order. That, and a new beach umbrella. Priorities.
Meg and Holly and I went to Tilton yesterday after Holly's last dance/movement class, and we didn't get home until 4:30. We shopped. I didn't get much, other than the BJs order (case of seltzer, too), but I did hit the clearance rack and sale at Old Navy. I found a few short sleeve shirts that are work-appropriate, and a few things for G that he could use. Essentials, really. All summer, I've been wearing snarky tee shirts, and it's time to think about things that don't have words on the front.
The best part (for me) of the trip was the fact that I was able to walk without pain, and I still don't feel any adverse effects of all the walking and standing. I did sit for a bit a couple of times, but mostly preventative; I was not limping and whining. =) Yay, spending the entire summer doing PT has actually paid off. We'll see how I do on beach sand, assuming the trip goes as planned later this month.
Yes, this month. It is August. (Ugh-ust?) When we used to go back after Labor Day, it was not so panic-driven, but now that we go back on the 20th for PD (and the 21st for PD and Open House), and kids come back the 25th, summer feels truncated. I will make the very best of it, to be sure. But the 43 degrees again this morning feels like a harbinger of things to come. We've had a few days like that lately-- and while the break from humidity/heat is somewhat welcome, it's also a shot across the bow.
Today, I will spend some time baking (take advantage of the cooler morning) and doing a few house chores. I have a metric ton of clean laundry to fold, and a huge bag of blueberries that G picked on Wed. to work through. I'll freeze a lot of them, but I will reserve a bit for something or other. He wants muffins. I'll probably do that and some blue-nana bread.
That said, I've been up since 5:45 and lazy, reading the paper and sighing through the incessant doom online. Time to get going, have breakfast, and do something useful.
Have a good day,
C
