Free time! Sort of...
Ahhh Friday.
That has a lot more meaning when it's a work week, but this week has been pretty regimented with online lectures and craft workshops, so I'm feeling Friday-ish.
I learned a lot of good things this week, and I'm grateful for the printable handouts-- I'll be using a lot of that stuff in my creative writing class, you can bet on it!
But some relatively unstructured time, some quiet and "me time," will be nice. I have a nail appointment with Meg this morning, and I already got the carrot cake in the oven. We are going to celebrate Meg's birthday tonight with a family dinner (her favorite: meatballs and pasta). If G ends up working late (it's a possibility), we'll just have to catch him up when he gets here. And Meg asked for the carrot cake, which I have not made in I can't even think how long. It's a heavy cake, three layers, and it has crushed pineapple and slivered almonds in it, too. I got cream cheese frosting for it-- I hope it all comes out okay. As I said, it's been a while since I've made it, so I am nervous.
But the day should be lovely, and it rained last night, so I don't have to water the garden, and ...it's summer. I have some really fun things I want to do/we are scheduled to do in the next week-- kind of last of the vacation vibe, but we will do and see some out of the ordinary things, so that will make it fun.
Work is looming. I have not even begun to do the computer work I was going to front load. I have not even looked at the GCNs (they are not due til the end of Sept., so I'm not rushing). At least I have my syllabi done, and it should be easy enough to embed some of the AP Language stuff in there; after all, the AP folks approved my syllabus, so it should be okay. (Ugh, nerves.)
Today, I'm not doing it.
