Staff shifts, more rain, and good baseball

Well, that's the end of my 37th year of teaching. I went in yesterday and puttered about, then attended the staff meeting. There are a lot of changes and so on, mostly good ones, coming. Finishing the (seemingly never-ending) roof project, Boys and Girls Club is renting out space in our building for the summer (a little unexpected bit of income--yay!), and some new things on the horizon regarding staff.

We have need of paras, no surprise there. And some folks, mostly ancillary staff, have gone on to other things. We've already hired new people for the music department, the other English teacher (current "new" one is moving along to an alt school in Vermont), working on a high school special ed teacher position-- other folks are shifting positions in-house, too. The big news:

We are looking for a new asst. principal.

If you know, you know. =)

The party at IFB was fairly subdued; not that many people attended from the high school, and the admins were not there, either. G and I stayed and had a pizza afterward. Then, we came home and watched the Red Sox beat the Yankees in ten innings.

I'd say it was a good day.

Today, cold/rain per usual. I'm not sure summer will ever get here; we've had a scant few warm days so far, even fewer that qualify as "hot" or sunny. The garden is all green, which is nice. And the fruit trees are doing their thing-- so much green-- but I wonder if the veggies/fruits will actually appear if we don't hurry up and get some warm/sunny days.

I'm still planning on putting up the pool, but I fear we'll never use it. Sometimes, "it be like that." If you are one of the proud and brave people who are demonstrating today, I applaud you.

Living in hope,

C
