Let there be light...in the bathroom, at least?




 ...ahhh the joys of home ownership, eh?

We've been dealing with no light in the bathroom for a while now. First, it was slow to come on when the switch was flipped. Then, it just didn't come on. G thought it was the bulb (I had my doubts, but...)-- we had to order bulbs. They came in. It was not the bulb. Then G thought it was the starter. He changed those. It was not. Lo and behold, the light itself is dead. (As I thought, but y'know...) So, we had to order a new light fixture, because, for some inexplicable reason, the prior owner had made this particular light a ceiling mount, which of course eliminates most options that are bathroom fixtures, and all that are in the local store. So, we wait. We shower by camping lantern. The new light is supposed to be here sometime by the end of this week. 

Then, we'll have to find a day for G to fix it. 

Don't even get me started on the shower surround. It's old and showing us that it is likely not gonna last forever. And I hate to think what that will cost/require. Who knows what the floor under it is like, or the wall...

yep. Hooray. We'll make do as long as possible-- home repairs are costly, and frankly, in the current state of things, that's not a good thing to dig into right now. 

In the meantime, I have to wash windows at some point, and I can't reach the outside ones, most of 'em, anyhow. Who has time to work? There's always something, and actually, a list of somethings. sigh.

Hearing Judy Collins sing, tell jokes, and reminisce about the years she spent surrounded by other iconic folk singers was just wonderful. It felt like we were all in her living room, just listening, laughing, and sighing along-- the audience sang with her at times, talked with her at times, and in general, we felt held. My visit yesterday to The Frost Place, and a few thoughts about community and place

Sunny and crisp morning-- the day promises to be a lot more pleasant than yesterday's weather. I sure hope so. And I hope the pool water retained some of the accrued warmth. We'll see. First, though, I have to get groceries and so on. Ah, Saturday. My journeys yesterday landed me at The Frost Place, and while there are changes up there from my many years of being a docent, much is the same. Some landscaping has occurred, pruning of shrubs and removal (sad) of the rose bush by the porch. I didn't go inside the house; that can wait. I was there to talk to the director who is also serving as a docent (arts budgets are tight all over), and I put five copies of my chapbook up in the Barn for sale. It's neat and tidy, and the video is the same... but clearly, it's not set up for in-person readings or conferences. Those are not on the schedule yet again this year, with the exception of Frost Day, and in September, there's a poet running a workshop on a weekend.  I miss...
