Fraught dreams, good friends, and a slow Saturday---

I may have spoken too soon about that sleeping well thing yesterday, but still, I sleep better with the window open. I had a terrifying and stressful dream about my house being hit by a huge storm, something like a tornado, and it crashed a tall tree through my bedroom window and there was glass everywhere, and my quilt got sucked out the window, and everything outside was broken or gone...

ugh

The high points, if there are any, is that two teachers from work appeared, offering help, and my friend Pauline was on the spot, helping me find my stuff and temporarily cover the broken window. And she would do just that, too-- she's a gem.

The one take-away from this: When I woke up, I was wondering where my house insurance paperwork is. I assume it's in the lock-box. I even looked on the bill for the mortgage to make sure it was, as I knew it was, being paid monthly.

And no, there are no tall trees outside my bedroom window-- shades of the tree scratching at the window in Wuthering Heights, or in "The Hill Wife" cycle of poems by Frost. Dang trees need to stay outside.

That all said, Holly came over early, and then fell back to sleep after some testy behavior (she announced she was still tired, needed a blanket, needed bunny, then conked out), so I have a very quiet beginning to the day. I don't mind. It's been a busy week, and Saturdays, I just feel it sometimes. Tomorrow is supposed to rain (again), so I'll postpone baking bread til then. I hope to get outside to the deck to arrange the outdoor furniture, and maybe --just maybe-- enjoy lunch out there. We shall see.

No matter what else transpires, the Toddler in Residence is likely to control the pace and the activities to a large part. I'm glad she's sleeping a bit more, as she's had a miserable cold this week, and no one needs a cranky termagant in their house.

And I get another cup of coffee. Win!

Have a good day,

C
