Friday-- and I'm tired?! But there are plans...
I guess watching/playing with/ herding a four year old is exhausting. Well, no guessing about it. I fell asleep watching a really insipid movie last night, so no big deal, but gee whiz! We also did a stroke of work yesterday-- G's closet is half-empty now, and that's a good thing. And the dog's vet appointment went well; she has an allergy to something, so we're in the process of ameliorating her discomfort (stop the infernal gnawing and itching) and figuring out what she's allergic to. It might be environmental, it might be food, but either way, we have things to try. Poor thing has been uncomfortable for a while. And she has an appointment at the groomer's for next week--summer hair cut! She is a very long-haired pom-doxie, and she's rocking dreads. We brush her, but there is so much hair...I swiffer often, and there's so much hair...
Anyhow, today is a little cooler in temps, it's been raining, and the world is damp and green. We'll see what the day brings. Actually, I know it'll bring a/ grading essays, and b/ going to King Arthur Baking. I want to re-start my sourdough bread practice. And it'll be fun. With the price of gas, it's about the only trip we'll be taking anytime soon-- and it's not really a trip, but at least it's out of town for a couple of hours.
The price of gas is prohibitive: 4.19 across the street. It's predicted to hit 6.00/gallon. And I know it's a lot higher in other states-- this is nuts. And the price of fertilizer is going up, too, due to the Scylla and Charybdis bs going on in the Middle East. Lucky for us, our back-door neighbor has piles of horse manure, and he brought us three loads of composted poo the other day. G will amend the boxes with natural fertilizer, and that works for me.
The new garden box should be here this coming week. I also ordered some morning glory seeds-- when the new Virgin Mary statue gets here, we'll set up the new herb and flower bed. I am hopeful that the blue morning glories grow and bloom-- I love them so much, but I have a hard time getting them to flower before frost. I'll get those seeds in the ground early, and hope for the best. I'll have to get herb sets, too-- not enough time for seeds to do their thing, so we get little plants.
But this weekend? I'll try to keep my activity to the basics. Holly will be shepherded by her parents, and while we'll definitely see her, we won't be running point as much. I need to get a little more rest! This is good practice for the summer, I think.
Have a good day, enjoy the sunshine (if we get some), and hold your dears close. The news cycle is tragic.
