Doggie news and winter prep... It's November!

Such an adjustment we need to do with this little doggo! She's not as housebroken as we'd been told, but we can work on that. Otherwise, she is a delight. Such a loving little dog. I rearranged the front room so that she could climb on the futon to look out the window--she is a nosey neighbor, for sure. And G lowered the gate that is on the front hallway so she will stop squeezing herself under -- there is nothing upstairs she needs, and her toenails would get caught in the carpet on the stairs. No one needs a dog with a broken leg. And we've got some other gates and barriers that we've installed or are coming in soon-- she is, as I say, nosey, and she gets into all sorts of stuff. And, to be honest, until she is fully housebroken, I'd like to limit the places she has accidents to the washable areas. No one wants to make a daily event out of running the carpet cleaner.

But anyhow-- this week is running about as smoothly as it could; it's been a bit expensive (dog adoption fee, getting tires swapped), and I canceled my dentist appointment (couldn't fit it in, and they don't take insurance so that was going to be another cash outlay). I'll reschedule it soon enough--  it's a cleaning. Add in the unexpected dog-related purchases, and yeah, I'm glad it's pay week.

We are heading to Tilton to do a BJs stock-up run. G suggested it, and it's a good idea-- get things into the pantry and cupboards for the months ahead. Not everything can be shipped (though I do that every month or so), and I don't mind buying in bulk for things like laundry detergent and toilet paper. And --guilty pleasure-- I love the muffins. Yes, I know they are not good for me, but they are a nice treat. And G wants a huge bag of brown sugar; I think he has designs on making cookies. We'll get some soups and so on, too-- pantry staples. And I want to find some things for our school pantry, too.

I have a pile of papers to grade this weekend as well, and there's the usual chores and so on. But I'll enjoy puttering around, getting things done. We've worked very hard lately to button up for winter, and it's almost done. G even got the pellets  (most of them) into the wood shed. Just need to clean up wind-blown stuff around the yard, and make sure a few of the last things are tucked away safely. There was snow in the air already, mixed with cold rain. And Mt. Washington has already gotten well over a foot.

I may not be ready for it, but I'm making things as ready as I can. That reminds me, I need to find my heavier gloves. Sigh.

Take care, hug your loved ones, and pray for saner days.
