Day one of "break"-- errands, chores, and baking!
Christmas Break is here!
Well, okay, technically, it's just Saturday, and the snow is still snowing, and I have to go get groceries and go to the bank and stuff this morning. But the vision of having a few days of not having to prep for lessons, or wear shoes, is a nice thing to contemplate.
Today, after the must-do stuff, Holly and I will bake cookies. I'm pretty sure the agenda looks like peanut blossoms and maybe snickerdoodles. Yesterday, we made her Christmas cards for her mom and dad. Keeping a precocious toddler engaged and happy is a challenge, and add to it the impending visit from Santa, and well, it's good to have an agenda.
So, yes, I do have a few days of prepping "lessons"-- but I will not wear shoes. I wanted to take her Christmas shopping tomorrow, but the predicted high temp is 8. Yes, single digits. I am not that brave, to take a little one out into the fray and bustle of last minute shoppers in the extreme cold. Nope. So, we will make cookies for her presents. If I look about, I think I even have some cookie gift boxes. Or we'll make tags to go on ziploc bags. One way or another, we'll keep moving!
I fell asleep last night while watching a movie-- by 8pm. I'm glad we did delivery for dinner (it was super good), because I was tired. Clearly, I was tired. I'll have to rewatch the film, since I only saw part of it.
I hope you get some rest as well. Have a good day, and stay warm!

ps: I forgot to mention, ALL of my students came to school yesterday. A relatively minor miracle, but still. And I got three gifts! Usually, kids and their parents let that custom go at the end of elementary school-- but I got a bag of Boy Scouts smores-drizzled popcorn, a box of home-made peanut butter cups, and a jar of "simmer pot"-- which is not simmering on the pellet stove. It was nice to be remembered.
