Rain and so on... just a chatty note

Rain, rain, rain.

We haven't had any since the end of August, so I can't whine about it. September weather has been glorious, really-- quite warm, and not difficult to work with. It started raining yesterday, though, and it's pouring still. I am hopeful that this welcome dose of wet will help my latent squashes along-- there are two pumpkins and two butternut squashes hiding in the tall grass down by the bee yard. And I still have hope for the tomatoes that climbed up the cherry tree. I can see that they are starting to turn yellow, so maybe they'll make it. I hate to pull up plants that are still trying, so they'll stay there until we have an actual frost-- which, I hope, is still a ways away.

Speaking of hope, I still hope to spend some time on the deck with a book. I can't seem to find a stretch of time anytime that I don't feel guilty just sitting, until it's after dinner and all the things that need doing have been put to rights. I have friends who would gently scold me about that, but I'm 58 and the habit is too ingrained. I like a clean kitchen. I can't stand clutter and chaos. My mind does not rest if my surroundings are a mess. So-- I'll figure it out.

The weekend is approaching, the weekend is approaching! And we are not on the babysitting schedule! And G will be working on Saturday until 12:30! I should have a little time to dabble, alongside more fruit-processing. And I found a slow cooker apple crisp recipe I want to try. So...maybe, if the weather behaves, I will have a few moments.

And speaking of G, yesterday was his first day back to work since June 4th. He says it went well, and he says he was compliant with his knee scooter and so on. We are working out a "get out of the house in orderly fashion" routine for mornings-- yesterday was good, and I hope today will be easy as well. Stumbling around each other in the early part of the day does not make for a good transition to work mode.

That all said, I have moderate hopes that things might right themselves sooner rather than later. I sure hope so. We are all ready for a more positive change. Keep praying!

Thanks, and have a good day. Stay dry!
