So much to be thankful for and to celebrate today!
It's a glorious, sunny Saturday! So much to be thankful for, so much to do. It's started out chilly (38 degrees), but will warm up to low 70s-- perfect for everything I want to do today.
Today, we celebrate the baptism of a little girl! Meg's best friend since she was 9 years old has asked her to be godmother to her little one, as Meg asked her to be Holly's. The two munchkins will grow up together, and I love to see it all playing out in real time. And I get the added bonus of being able to participate as a reader in the ceremony.
It's also my son-in-law's birthday, and that occasion is another thing to rejoice about. Given the serious and emotionally fraught several months he/we have been through, it's great to say Happy Birthday to him. God is good: little ones being welcomed into the church and loved ones still with us. Amen.
And G got the garden boxes all trimmed out nice. I just need to get the plants! He wants to put a little more soil in them, just to make sure that, once things have settled, there will be enough. That leaves me with figuring out what I want to grow-- tomatoes, cukes, beans, carrots... and he has set up a separate area in which he wants to grow squashes and pumpkins. This year, I hope it's not so darn rainy-- so far, so good. The cherry and pear trees are full of tiny fruits already!
I'm also told that there will be a new puppy joining Meg's little menagerie. Holly will love it! They have a pretty full lineup already, with three cats and a chihuahua, and let's not forget the betta fish... but there's a lot of love to go around, so it should be fine. And last evening, Holly got to meet and ride a small horse! She has no fear of animals at all-- she took right to it. It was a fun way to end the day.
I'm glad to see so much growing going on. It's a good thing, both literally and metaphorically.
Have a wonder-filled day!
