Setting (some things) to rights--Spring Edition
I did a lot of cleaning and organizing yesterday; I even cleaned the coffee maker with vinegar (the whole house then smelled like pickles for a bit). Two big bags of old curtains went to a local thrift shop that donates money to local organizations. All that's left to do is usual house maintenance, and guess what? It's not happening today. O, and when the new living room curtains come, I'll change those over, but that won't take long. The ones I put up yesterday are pretty, and they let in so much more light!
The early part of this morning has been taken up by filling out the forms I got at work the other day: contract signing, open enrollment for med/dental, and a new W4 so I can have them take out a little more towards taxes. We can't seem to balance that mess out; every year, we end up paying a pile o'money to the feds. We just don't have any real deductions beyond the standard one. I don't get it, I don't pretend to get it, and I'll never understand it. I don't care about a "refund"--it's your money, held without interest. I just want to break even. It causes me so much anxiety every year. Bleah.
That all said, yay, paperwork is navigated and done. House stuff is under control (for the most part). And I'm a bit tired from yesterday's marathon spring organizing. I'm almost done with coffee #2, for the record, and I'm not even entertaining the idea of showering yet. This is supposed to be vacation week, right?
There's a tentative plan in place for tomorrow, though, and it looks like it might be fun: Meg, Holly, Tim, and I will be venturing to Ben and Jerry's. Now, I'm not sure how Holly will do on the factory tour; she may get bored, but maybe not. I hope not. There will be ice cream involved, so we'll hang our hats on that. I would love to have one "fun" thing this week, so this will likely be it. I haven't been there since our 25th wedding anniversary-- yeah, it's been a minute. Like, 11+ years of minutes.
Friday, if the weather behaves, looks like outdoor stuff. I have a plan of sorts to do some new things-- I am done fighting the invasive weeds in the back bed-- they win. I am hopeful that the raspberry bushes fight it out and win, but I'm bowing out of the fight. I'll move the little fencing out of there (it's pointless, anyhow), and move the trellises to a different location. I'm thinking maybe using them with the raised beds to allow for cucumbers, but I'm not yet sold on the idea. G has some hauling around to do, too; the bees are coming in about two weeks, and he's got new equipment on order. The old stuff needs to be moved. I'm not sure where it's going, but out of the beeyard is definitely the plan. I'd like to move the beeyard a bit, but that's not my call, ultimately. All I know is that when we are done with the chores, a trip to IFB will be welcome. I hope I remember to bring the growler. I always forget.
That all said, I hope to clear the detritus off the asparagus bed, pick up wind-blown trash, and figure it all out. It might even take one call to the trash haulers-- I'm in the mood to clear the way for new things.
Have a good day,
C
