It's cold, and there are pretty dresses at the store--- O, February--
You know what I wish? I wish some designer out there, likely a local-ish one, could come up with appropriate Easter finery for little kids who live in the north country. All the pretty, frilly, sleeveless dresses and pinafores won't hold up to seven below. Okay, I know Easter is a little over a month away, but it will not be warm enough on March 31st, either. So often, I wanted to buy pretty little dresses and hats, white mary-jane patent shoes, little purses for Meg when she was small. Nope. Those pretty things are for children in warmer places. Here, we are still shoveling snow, wearing boots, and puffy coats cover up whatever we put the kids in for clothes. The fashions more often seen for Christmas are more fitting for north country Easters.
That all said, it's nice to wander around in TJMaxx and see lighter, brighter colors. I'm fast approaching that time of year when I get entirely sick of wearing the same ol' brown-beige-grey-black. I try to spice it up with olive green and maroon, but by now, I am yearning for light blue, pink, and fluttery fabrics. I have to put that desire aside for at least another month, probably two.
I will likely reorganize my closet this coming vacation week, though. At least break up the cycle of what I've been wearing, pull some of the sweaters into use that have languished at the back of the closet, and move some of the single-layer long sleeve things to the front. I live in hope. I'll probably still ignore them, in favor of wool and more wool. My classroom is chilly.
Maybe I should buy one of those pretty outfits for Holly anyhow, but put it aside for Mothers' Day.
Have a good day, and stay warm. I'm gonna try.
