Making Magic Happen

Sometimes, life hits you with a curveball and knocks you out of the batter's box. This is our current situation: my son-in-law is quite ill (he's a cardiac patient and his meds have stopped working right), and he's in the hospital in Boston. We are rallying our resources and forces to help keep things moving as well as possible for Meg, Holly, and Tim. And of course, it's Christmas season.

That's where I come in. Not just me, of course, but since this is my favorite season, and I have a little flexible time at my disposal, I'm making it my mission to keep Christmas coming for Holly, and for the rest of us as well.

We went to see Santa on Friday while Tim went to get labs done. Holly was so happy! She was not shy, and she was as excited as can be. Yesterday, she and I did lots of little, fun things, which culminated in her putting the glittery star on top of a child-sized Christmas tree. She declared it "perfect, Mimi!"--which of course, made me happy. Papa slept over her house last night so she could sleep in her own bed, keeping things as normal as they can be. Meg works nights, every weekend. So, for the time being, that will be the plan. Tonight, though, her MIL will be staying over, so that will be fun for Holly, too.

This morning, I will go to church and pray my hardest for my little family. I'll buy two wreaths from our charitable mission group. I'll do my best to keep the holiday prep going, so it's normal for everyone in this very-much-not-normal time.

And today, we will bake cookies with sprinkles.

Prayers, please, if you are able. We need 'em.
