Two movies to skip and a book I'm glad I'm reading--

Well, last night we ordered burgers and fries from the local weekend-only snack shack down the street--and they were glorious. And the sweet potato fries were so good. Which is all very helpful, as the headache that the pharm tech warned me about that is a side effect of the current Covid spike vax is a real thing. Bleah on headaches.

I spent the evening watching two not very good movies; the first was a farcical art heist (Mortdecai) with Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow--amusing, but not that much. The second was a terrible movie titled The English Teacher, and, while it had Nathan Lane in it (he was great), the plot was not great, and it was an itchy, uncomfortable movie that could have done so much more. Bleah again.

At any rate, I went to bed and slept hard, avoiding my poked arm, and woke up at 6am. I've still got the persistent headache (not a searing one, just an uncomfortable pressure), and I'm pretty lethargic, but I expected that. Today's plan involves writing a draft of that poetry book review I must get done and getting groceries later. For now, I'm drinking coffee, thinking about breakfast, and I'll watch Mass on the livestream. At some point, I'll shower and try to be a functional adult.

I have not mentioned what I've been reading, which is really remiss of me. I'm probably the last kid standing who has not read Russo's Empire Falls. It's wonderful. I love New England fiction, anyhow, and since this one is set in central Maine, which is where I am headed this summer for my poetry conference, it seems fitting. And the characters are recognizable ones, no matter where you live in the northern parts of New England. I keep a book at the table for company when I eat-- I'm usually eating breakfast and lunch, and sometimes dinner, solo, and I get bored.

So, assuming my eyes don't cross, I'll get some computer work done, some reading done, and (I hope) forage for food for the week. I hope your day is more productive than mine!

Take care,

C
