Thus endeth another "vacation"--
Well, that "vacation" week went by in a series of pretty rainy and dreary weather days. Except yesterday. That was one glorious day! I even got a little sun-- not enough to call it a burn, but let's say pinkish. I needed the "vitamin D therapy" even more than I knew.
I've postponed the chores I wanted to do-- the coming week looks chilly and wet yet again, so the winter curtains will stay up one more week. The hostas in the back garden are not up yet, so they can't be moved. And with so much rain in the forecast, I'm not putting new soil in my raised beds yet-- I don't want the nutrients to wash away and just grow the weeds and grass around them. And the roses are just now getting going, so that bit will have to wait a little as well.
So be it. Next weekend, though, the to-do list will have to be done. I'm a master procrastinator about some things, so I don't mind all that much. G gave the forsythias a good trim yesterday, though, so those look good. And the rhubarb is coming along nicely, but not enough to make a pie yet. For all of the promise of those few days in the 70s a while ago, we all knew it was false spring. We've got the usual progression going now, though, and thus, all outdoor projects are shifted to another day.
The forecast all during this week looks like soaking rain-- drizzle, showers, full rain, and back again. G actually cut the grass in the backyard yesterday, before it got unmanageable. Then he gave Holly a ride in the wheelbarrow-- shenanigans!
Today, I've got an invented muffin in the oven, and I have a few house things I can putter about with. There's an online writing class I'm looking forward to, as well, this afternoon. All in all, a quiet day. And I don't mind quiet-- it's been a toddler-busy week, and I don't mind slowing down a little. Tomorrow, I'll begin to mentally gird myself for the chaos and disruption that May can be (and often is) in school. So many field trips, assemblies, and so on-- we tend to postpone all "fun" til good weather, and believe me, Seniors have pretty much mentally checked out anyhow-- graduation and senior trip planning have taken over. Nothing new there, but still, it can be like herding cats to get the last bits of things done.
Enjoy your day,
C
